”Women have found their voice- a much stronger voice. They are now empowered unlike before. Women now make major life decisions. They have stood against domestic violence, sexual abuse, equality, discrimination and torture. Thus, behind a successful woman is an equally supportive and loving husband,” Dr. Calpo, said.“
…hashtag purple Mondays, we wear anything purple on all the Mondays of March or even color your hood with purple to signify support for women’s empowerment and gender equality”, said by Professor Ferrer.
Observing one of the biggest celebrations yearly, the National Women’s Month, with the 2021 theme, “Juana Laban sa Pandemya:Kaya!,” the PSU-AC celebrated it virtually with the presence and collaborative efforts of the different campus officials led by Dr. Valentin Calpo, the hardworking CED, with Dr. Priscilla Agsalud, Dean, College of Education, Prof. Viola Ferrer, GAD Coordinator, Ms. Cristine E. Clarion, GAD Deputy Coordinator together with the faculty and staff and students, March 24.
The virtual celebration was also graced by the guest speaker, Dr. Ma. Criselda G. Ocang, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, SDO-Dagupan City together with the Dr. Gilbert P. Moralista, Director, Gender and Development. Dr. Ocang is the epitome of a successful woman in every way as Ms. Clarion introduced her. Having a high position in the government office and with her numerous accomplishments, it is very obvious that Dr. Ocang is a representation of not just an ordinary Juana but a super JUANA in our society. In her discussion, she elaborated how women differ to men in many ways and how SUPER JUANAS perform today in our society.
In the afternoon session, the talented students of PSU-AC joined virtually the different GAD-related contests and student activities such as essay writing, poster-slogan making, singing contest, spoken poetry (tagalog), photography contest and tik-tok video contest. The faculty who facilitated the different contests were: Mr. Philip G. Nonales, SSAA Coordinator, Engr. Eric Cunanan, Mr. Robert Lee M.Remigio, Ms. Cristine E.
