Facilities

Bookstore

The bookstore is an area within the campus that holds a collection of books, instructional and supplemental materials, and other references that serve common use to meet the students’ educational, informative and recreational demands. The topmost aim of the bookstore is to meet the academic needs of the learners by providing updated references for purchase.

Cafeteria

The campus cafeteria is the go-to spot of students and teachers to spend time to relax and to take a break from a tiring task. In fact, it is the favorite place of all students. It is a vital part of almost every student’s school experience. In here, students and and personnel gather to recharge their energy which is beneficial to them to boost productivity and efficiency of work.

It offers wide array of quality foods. It provides clean, nutritious and delicious meals. The eating utensils are all sterilized before use to guarantee germ-free. The vicinity of the cafeteria is a small space comprising four tables with six chairs. Aside from the sumptuous food being offered, the good ambiance, cozy atmosphere and the wonderful people are the reasons why the campus cafeteria adds to the quality life of each student and teachers.

The cafeteria is a place of communication. People who visit the place are chatting about all kinds of subjects including work/study life experiences that’s why a background music is aired to set the mood of the customers. Free and fast access to Wifi is open to all students and employees to continue working while taking their snacks/meal at the same time.

Clinic

The clinic is a site managed by a nurse who is willing to assist and to attend to the diverse health care needs of students and personnel. The facilities are readily available to render primary care. In here, first aid and initial assessment are delivered on emergency cases. Students and teachers can visit anytime for health consultation. Even more, health measure activities such as lecture on medical and health education, issuance of memo on current health issues as well as preventive measure like vaccinations are other services offered that client could enjoy.

Clonal Nursery

Much like animals can be cloned like the ever-controversial Dolly, the Sheep, the same can be done with plants. Some plants may even benefit from cloning. Clonal propagation is the process of reproducing genetically-identical plants through asexual means. This is recommended for species that are difficult to propagate due to an irregular supply of their seeds. This is especially true for dipterocarps, which take more than a decade before their first flowering, have irregular fruiting seasons, and have short viability of seeds. The clonal nursery was built in 2011. It was a grant from the DENR to produce cloned seedlings of endangered forest species.

Comfort Rooms

Comfort rooms are a vital part of the school, which accommodates the personal hygiene of the students and staff of the campus. The cleanliness is attended and monitored by utility personnel to ensure sanitation, comfort, and safety. The water supply is sufficient for washing hands and flushing toilet, and it is equipped with sanitation facilities. It is a place where rest, relaxation, and recharging can be found. Undoubtedly, it is a unique place for a 5-minute peace and a temporary sanctuary.

Dormitories

The housing unit, through campus dormitories and cottages, caters to students, faculty, and personnel, particularly those residing outside the town of Sta. Maria. It has staff houses and cottages for employees. There is a separate dormitory for men and ladies. There are two newly constructed and renovated ladies’ dormitories. The student occupants render community services to maintain the cleanliness of the dormitories and the whole campus. It provides complete amenities for a comfortable and satisfactory stay for the occupants.

The university has provided a fence surrounding the whole area of the dormitories and the housing units for protection against outsiders. The campus has five security guards, which are shifted every 24 hours, and the dormitories and staff houses are their one area of duty. The dormitories are equipped with fire extinguishers and fire exits to secure the safety of occupants in case of an emergency.

Green House

Interfaith Room

Providing students with greater opportunities to connect and make peace with their “inner selves” more prominently referred to as spirituality, will substantially encourage academic and leadership development. It will increase intellectual self-confidence and healthy well-being and improves life satisfaction.

An Interfaith Room, a specific place for prayer and meditation, was built for PSU-SM faculty, staff, and students to spend quiet time free from any distractions and unwanted interruptions brought by various academic and professional obligations. This project was meant to uplift and deepen the Spiritual relationship of every PSUnian to their perceived deity, regardless of their religious affiliation. It would also allow students and faculty to be open to other religious organizations that would soon decrease the existence of religious stereotyping and prejudices inside the University.

Knowledge Center

In the year 2021, the final renovation of PSU-SM’s Knowledge Center took place. Knowledge Center is prominently known as a place wherein all gathered information was in one easy-to-access place. Before the unwarranted destructive fire, it provided an improved search experience to all students and faculty. It was a place for a rich repertoire of much-needed information under each specialization.

Library

In today’s age, libraries are still perceived as a haven for the most reliable and credible sources of information. With the presence of google and other search engines, the essence of libraries in every school and university, still cannot be over-emphasized and neglected.

PSU-SM library strives to adhere to the latest technological fashion. It made an effort to install OPAC and computer desktops for more convenient browsing of available books and specific articles. PSU-SM’s library also underwent furniture renovation and has improved quite a lot in its digital platforms, strategies, and web tools.

Poultry

The construction of poultry was finished in 2021. It was designed for the production of eggs and brooding.

Since PSU-SM aims to be the center of excellence for Agricultural specialization, efforts to improve the existing facilities have been the utmost priority of the campus.

Aside from being a valuable income-generating facility, poultry also enables students to practice handling, cultivating, and harvesting poultry products like eggs and meat. It would also allow researchers to study ways to improve poultry products’ production and quality.

PSU Mushroom Technology and Innovation Center

Mushroom RD&E activities started its humble beginning in May 2000 and it was then called the Mushroom Research and Development Laboratory (MRDL).

The project became fully operational with the construction of the mushroom building nestled in a 8,000 sq. m. area and eventually evolved into PSU-Mushroom Research & Development Center (PSU-MRDC) in 2003.

CHED through its GIA-Technology Commercialization Program funded the implementation of the project titled, “Mushroom for Profit: A Livelihood Assistance Project for the Youth and Marginalized Sectors in Pangasinan”.

In February 2022, the Center metamorphosed into PSU-Mushroom Technology and Innovation Center with the completion of the Multi-Purpose Buildings through the initiative and efforts of Hon. Conrado M. Estrella III, Deputy Speaker and ABONO Party List Congressman of the 28th Philippine Congress.

Ramps

Ramps in the school premises are built to foster inclusivity. Staircases may not always be an easy feat for the disabled and the senior citizens. Our school ramps help us to welcome everyone in school from people who love to stroll along the beautiful campus to people who mean essential businesses thereat.

Social Spaces

It’s indeed more fun in PSU-Sta. Maria as it provides social spaces for venting and mingling during students’ spree times.

PSU Tissue Culture Laboratory is one of the projects of PSU – ISAATF under the administration of Dr. Rodolfo V. Asanion. It has an initial budget of more than three hundred thousand pesos (P300,000.00). This assistance granted was in the form of equipment, tools, chemicals, supplies and materials.

Generally, the tissue culture laboratory supports the university’s four-fold functions:  instruction, research, extension and production.

Specifically, it aims to:

1. Facilitate the conduct of faculty and students’ researches leading to the development of new and workable technologies in agriculture particularly in banana production.

2. Provide technical services that will improve banana production activities of our local farmers in Eastern Pangasinan and nearby municipalities and provinces.

3. Develop technologies relevant to various banana production for techno-transfer to farmers, agri-preneurs, extension workers, and other stakeholders within our service area.

Vehicles

In a small town like Sta. Maria, transportation can always be a challenge. That should not mean, however, that essential businesses for the functioning of the institution must be delayed. Vehicles for official transportation are made available here from AUV’s to trucks as needed by the university.
