KEEPING EMPLOYEES HAPPY with coffee.
A program of Pangasinan State University Lingayen Campus- Library Unit dubbed as “Lib Café” is bringing a caffeine-vibe environment as it offers free coffee and bread for faculty and non-teaching staff to support them on their conduct of online teaching and research activities at the Library.
The cafe which is open on 9:00-10:00AM and 3:00-4:00PM, primarily promotes the different library services for study, and other scholarly works, and facilities.
Said project which is on its second year, is also an intervention to the decreasing number of library visitors given the restrictions from the current pandemic situation where students are not allowed to enter the school premise and faculty members are availing work from home arrangement.
“The Lib Cafe program is a great campaign to inform our faculty members that our library services are still in place even during the pandemic,” said Ms. Karen Santillan, Campus-designate Librarian.
She added that the office wanted to highlight the collection especially that the library houses over 16, 300 volumes of books and e-sources, and around 200 non-print and audio-visual materials.
It is also important to note that with the introduction of flexible learning, though the library services on physical setup showed a significant drop, the online library services maintain its escalating expansion thru virtual orientation.
At present, the office is linked with various education technology solutions providers like VitalSource, Cengage Learning, Science Direct, Academia.edu, Philippine Journal of Science and World Book Online, to help students and teachers access impactful experiences thru digital learning materials.
Aside from the Lib Cafe, the library unit is preparing for a webinar for students to be informed with other e-sources to provide meaningful library engagement.
In fact, on April to June, there is a Search for e-bookworm competition launched by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs where students with highest number of overall activity in VitalSource Bridge (e-books) will receive gifts and certificates. /mmpd
