STARTING THE YEAR RIGHT. Over thousand audiences joined the talk of no less than the award-winning business speaker, Mr. Francis J. Kong (FJK) as he shared tips on how to be equipped with an entrepreneurial mindset thru a live Facebook session on Pangasinan State University Lingayen Campus Official page, this January 5 (Tuesday).
Kong who is a recipient of the Outstanding Filipino (TOFIL) Award 2014, pointed the meaning of a mindset entrenched in entrepreneurship in the daily grind to propel forward and reach business successes guided by the anatomy of an entrepreneur- developing intellectual, emotional, physical, and fiscal discipline, and spiritual and relationship wellness.
In his discussion, Mr. Kong emphasized the importance of developing an entrepreneurial mindset as early as possible. He provided practical pieces of advice to the students, faculty, and personnel who are interested of entering the field of entrepreneurship.
In addition, he shared that one of the most important characteristics that a businessperson should possess is the ‘courage to face failures’.
He encourages everyone to start saying, “I am training to be successful” and not “I am going to be successful”, which gives more emphasis to the process rather than the outcome itself. As he would always repeat, “You have to work for it”.
Aside from being a speaker, Mr. Kong is a columnist, and his column at the Philippine Star has been awarded best business column for the years 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2015 and has been accorded hall of fame awardee by the Catholic Mass Media Awards.
In addition, Francis also won the Anvil Award for Excellence for the staging of the Dr. John Maxwell Seminar Series, Gold Quill Award for Best Public Speech category given by the International Association Business Communicators.
Audiences who were students, faculty members and even other individuals who are interested to venture business were left in awe after hearing wonderful words from the entrepreneur.
“Mr. Kong emphasized the term discipline and having a right mindset in gearing up for a business. I think these traits are important especially for us, future professionals, to adapt the same so that we can see the peak of success,” said Clydel Bautista, a Bachelor of Secondary Education student.
She added that as students, they can use these traits as battle equipment to enhance their ability and to be ready in facing the reality after they graduate.
“The same mindset applies to us, future professionals, since entering a battle without proper plans may lead us to failure. Right mindset and proper attitude is crucial,” she added.
Said event was organized by the Gender and Development unit of Lingayen spearheaded by Dr. Presley V. de Vera. /mmpd
