Pangasinan State University-Sta. Maria commends the graduating class of 2023 during the conduct of the 44th Baccalaureate Mass and Recognition Program with the theme “Mapagmalasakit at Responsableng mga PSUnian, Kabalikat sa Mas Matatag na Lipunan.” at Sen. Leticia Ramos Shahani Convention Hall, Sta. Maria, Pangasinan, on August 17, 2023.
During the said event, 380 candidates for graduation are presented by Ms. Kristine Vingua, Campus Registrar, who were supported by their parents and guardians in finishing the chapter of this academic year with flying colors.
Honoring this year’s graduates, Rev. Fr. Elpidio “Polong” F. Silva of Our Lady of the Pillar Parish officiates the baccalaureate mass prior to the recognition program.
Dr. Honorio L. Cascolan, Campus Executive Director of PSU-SM, formally starts the program upon delivering his opening remarks.
Further, on behalf of Dr. Elbert M. Galas, the University President, Mr. Ace John Mark Liwanag, Faculty Association President, congratulates the graduates through an inspirational message.
“Ang parangal na inyong tinanggap ay patunay ng inyong sipag, tiyaga at dedikasyon sapagkat ito’… ito’y hindi lamang isang tagumpay para sa inyo kun’di pati na rin para sa inyong mga magulang guro at sa buong komunidad.” Mr. Liwanag said.
“Kayo’y naging inspirasyon sa iba na tuparin ang kanilang mga pangarap sa pamamagitan ng pagsusumikap at disiplina. Huwag kalimutang gamitin ang inyong natutunan hindi lamang para sa inyong sariling kapakinabangan kun’di pati na rin para sa ikauunlad ng ating minamahal na bansa.” Mr. Liwanag added to emphasize the essence of utilizing the attained academic skills for the betterment of the nation, aligning with this years’ theme.
Also, Ms. Karen Justine R. Ramos, Ecosystem Management Specialist II, graced the event as the guest of honor and speaker. In her piece, Ms. Ramos shares her experiences of sacrifice and success as a former BSABM student and a product of PSU-Sta. Maria. “Mga kapwa ko PSUnians, tayo ang henerasyon na may malaking papel sa paglikha ng mas maganda, mas makabuluhan, at mas mapayapang kinabukasan.” Ramos said.
After the momentous awarding of certificates, medals, and scholarships from the Dr. Carl Balita Review Center, Ms. Rosalie Carganillo, Magna Cum Laude, also gave her words of gratitude, inspiring her fellow graduates.
Dr. Brenda C. Panelo, Dean of the College of Agriculture, seals the event on behalf of Dr. Gemma De Vera, Dean of the College of Education. “Your degree is not just a piece of paper; it is a set of wings that will help you fly away and burst out (on) the horizon into a new world called your life… I wish you well in this journey.” Dr. De Vera wrote, expressing her greetings to the graduates, their families, and the PSU-SM faculties.
Indeed, PSU-SM produces yet another set of future professionals and achievers that will impart skills, knowledge, and expertise for nation-building.
