With the aim of escalating agriculture in the region, PSU- Sta. Maria (PSU-SM) Campus trained members of the Alitaya-Gueguesangen-Amansabina Irrigators Association Model Farm (AGAIAMF) on seed propagation of different vegetables on May 27, 2022, at NIA Region I, Bayaoas, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.
The said training was spearheaded by Prof. Ronel Ali Omolida, BS Agriculture faculty and the Income-Generating Project (IGP) coordinator of PSU-SM. It aimed to teach the association’s members how to properly propagate vegetables for viable income.
Mr. Omolida lectured on strategies for propagation and management practices for crops. He also demonstrated how to prepare soil mixture for vegetable seedlings before transplanting them to prepared crop beds.
Subsequently, the training also addressed farmers’ issues with crop diseases. The trainer taught them how to combat these diseases by giving them tips on how to resort to organic remedies.
PSU-SM also distributed vegetable seedlings to interested members.
The participants were gratified with the training extended by the campus.
